St. Bernard Catholic School and St. Bernard Preschool are expressions of the education mission of St. Bernard Parish. The Pastor is responsible for the administration of the total parish, including the school and preschool. The Principal is the chief administrator of the school and preschool. The Director is the administrator of the preschool.
The purpose of the School Council is to serve and support the Principal and Director for the overall good of the school, preschool and the Parish. The School Council is an advisory body, established by the Pastor, to assist him, the Principal and Director with governance and regulatory matters concerning the educational facilities at St. Bernard, subject to such regulations that might proceed from the Ordinary of the Diocese, and the Director of Schools. The School Council meets the second Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Elected or appointed members serve 3 year terms with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
